WEDDINGS AT THE BROWN PALACE: A DREAMY DOWNTOWN DENVER WEDDING

Downtown Denver features some gorgeous spots for a wedding and the Brown Palace is one of the most iconic. Rich with history, this venue doubles as a hotel and spa and promises a ceremony full of splendor, elegance, and allure.

WHY THE BROWN PALACE? (HISTORY LOVERS TAKE NOTE)

The convenience of being Downtown Denver is a huge allure to the Brown Palace, but as soon as you step through the doors, you feel like you’ve been transported to a majestic castle that somewhat resembles Gringotts Wizarding Bank from Harry Potter – just spectacular. A grand backdrop for photos, if I do say so myself.

This historic landmark remains one of the most beloved hotels in Denver since the 1800’s, where the founder of the hotel built the “Palace” for guests to stay on their travels to and from the booming West Coast.

The hotel and spa features an atrium style lobby with eight story balconies towering above and is graced with cast iron railings and ornate scrollwork panels turned upside down for a bit of fun. Onyx was imported from Mexico for the lobby, the Onyx Room, and for the Grand Ballroom on the top floor.

The Brown Palace is the second fire-proof building in America, as the architect didn’t use any wood but instead hollow blocks of porous terra-cotta fireproofing. Pretty cool.

With such marvelous history, so many stories have been told here, and the Brown Palace awaits yours as another one to go down in the books.

FEATURES + AMENITIES

For over a century, couples have said their vows and danced the night away amongst this gorgeous hotel. Fresh flowers, sweeping staircases, a top notch culinary team, and ornate gold details all add to the splendor and allure of this magical place.

The Brown Palace features four different venue spaces and will accommodate anywhere from 50 to 350 people. The elegant Ballroom is their largest space, and is just as glitzy as you would imagine. The films that could be made here are certainly feature-worthy material.

The Onyx Room is next up, holding up to 125, and features white-onyx columns and a beautiful medallion mural on the wall, with the artist painting cupid’s faces to resemble all his family and friends (yet another fun touch). Love is certainly in the air.

If you’re opting for a more intimate ceremony, you might consider the Brown Palace Club, which holds up to 75 guests. Check out all the details of the rooms here and see what best suits your fancy.

On staff, they have wedding managers, floral designers, pastry chefs for custom wedding cakes, culinary experts, creative bartenders, banquet servers, spa technicians, and audiovisual designers to assist in bringing your special day to life – just the way you imagine it.

General wedding packages at the Brown Palace start at $140 per person and include the following:

  • Open Bar
  • Wedding Cake Cutting
  • Champagne Toast
  • Hors d’oeuvres
  • Dinner Selection
  • Event Space Rental
  • Floral Centerpieces
  • Complimentary Deluxe Room for the Bride and Groom

For additional pricing they offer features like wireless microphones, TVs, LED uplighting around each room, plus custom draping, lighting, video and audio packages for your convenience.

Complimentary chocolate and champagne will be delivered to the newlyweds the night of the wedding. The Brown Palace has 241 rooms so your guests are welcome to stay on-site, and if you choose to go that route, the rooms will be discounted as part of the wedding package.

There is a long legacy of love surrounding the Brown Palace and I invite you to reach out to them here if you feel as drawn to this space as I do.

THINGS TO DO IN THE VICINITY

The beauty of the Brown Palace, aside from the space in and of itself, is the proximity to, well, everything, since it’s right there in Downtown Denver. The hotel has its own slew of snazzy spots inside, but since I know that wedding guests often like to explore the area while they are in town, I’ve compiled a list of exciting things to do nearby for you and your guests to enjoy!

Let’s begin within the hotels walls:

  • The Spa at the Brown Palace

The hotel features a state of the art spa complete with rejuvenating massages, facials, nail treatments, hair care and more. Only here can you head for a relaxing detox after enjoying a Champagne brunch and then move on to high tea in the afternoon.

  • Churchill Bar

This old-school bar inside the Brown Palace takes you back in time, offering a full-service cigar lounge, with over 60 different cigar selections for your choosing, plus a wide variety of bourbons, scotch, and any other liquor you so desire. This classic lounge also serves lunch, dinner, and desserts.

  • Atrium Cocktails

If you’re not into the whole cigar thing, you’ll want to head to the Atrium for cocktail hour. The speciality here is tea-themed cocktails and comes complete with charcuterie and other food pairings. Sip beneath the stained glass ceiling as the grand piano sets the tone for your evening, unless you are there on Friday or Saturday – then you’ll be treated to some Jazz.

  • Restaurants at the Brown Palace:

    • Ellyngton’s: for breakfast and brunch
    • Ship Tavern: for lunch and dinner (plus happy hour 2-5)
    • Palace Arms: for fine dining
    • Brown Palace Coffee and Tea: for coffee and high tea, of course

Now, for venturing outside the Palace:

  • Denver Museums

The concierge will  be able to provide you with maps for the museums (and the city in general) but the Brown Palace is in close proximity to many world class exhibits including the Denver Art Museum, the Clyfford Still Museum, the Museum of Contemporary Art (MCA), the Molly Brown House Museum and more.

  • Shopping

For centrally located shopping, head to Larimer Square or the LoDo district, where you’ll find a variety of local shops and restaurants. Stop by 16th Street Mall for mainstream shops like Victoria’s Secret, Sunglass Hut, Target, and much more.

  • Red Rocks Amphitheater

Music lovers unite beneath the stars here at Red Rocks for some of the best sound and views in the nation. If you get a chance, don’t miss a show here, but it’s still beautiful in the daytime, where you can walk the stairs or explore the beautiful rock formations that surround it.

  • Professional Sports Arenas

The Brown Palace is in close proximity to Coors Field, which all sports fans will be thrilled to know. See a game at the Sports Authority Field or the Mile-High Stadium, which is home to the Denver Broncos

  • Experience the Craft Beer Capital of the West

Denver is known as the Napa Valley of craft beer and with good reason. Everywhere you turn are microbreweries with some of my favorite downtown being Jagged Mountain and Great Divide Brewing Co

  • Denver Zoo

For a family friendly event, head to the Denver Zoo, which began with a special gift to the Mayor – a black bear cub that was born in City Park. You’ll experience the excitement of connecting with animals such as tigers, Asian elephants, South African lions, and much more.

ALL YOUR PHOTOGRAPHY AND VIDEOGRAPHY NEEDS MET

My love story with wedding photography and videography in Colorado began many years ago, when I became captivated by connecting couples and telling their stories visually, marking their special stamp in time for generations to come.

Shoot me over a message so I can get to know what you are looking for and see if we can make some magic come to life.

I would be honored to capture your special day, and I look forward to getting to know you! Let’s preserve your memories together.
